Greetings, From all of us at CSAmerica, thank you for a wonderful first year! We wish you the best with final exams and with your summer preparations. Many of you will be working, traveling, interning, or even taking classes this summer, and we will continue to bring you newsletters to keep you up to date with CSAmerica. Again, thanks for being a part of our progress!
The Event Planning Committee is looking forward to creating a great year of events for everyone in CSAmerica. The committee is comprised of Student Advisory Board members Alison LeFlore of Worchester Polytechnic Institute and Carlos Urtecho of George Mason University and is chaired by CSAmerica Council member Courtney Lenz of Lake Forest College. We will be having at least two events in the 2007-2008 year- two national events, the Fall Summit in Chicago and the National Convention in Washington, DC and possibly regional events. We're working hard to increase the social activities at each event, find amazing speakers, and develop new resolves for the debates. Additionally, we want to increase cooperation between schools in the various city clusters. The Event Planning Committee can't wait for the upcoming year! We have a lot in store for you. Get excited!
National Projects is currently coming up with ideas for our first national project. Throughout the summer, we will be brainstorming and creating an initiative that will serve to motivate and unite CSAmerica chapters nationwide. We will be working hard to have a National Project that can be implemented in every chapter. We also hope to have materials including a step-by-step guide to assist chapters that will be putting it on. We hope that it will be something that will engage CSAmerica members and promote your chapter and the national organization in your community. So be on the look-out when the National Project is revealed in Fall 2007. We are open to program ideas and suggestions. If you would like to contribute to CSAmerica National Projects, please contact Emmanuel at ecaudillo@csamerica.org.
The Expansion Committee is working closely with the cluster leaders to create new chapters at schools across the country. Besides contacting students who attended the National Convention or who were active in similar organizations, we also are creating brochures to send to schools and reach out to administrators and faculty members. The efforts of the Expansion Committee involve cooperation with all of the other committees to promote CSAmerica and its events, as well as transitioning interested individuals into full chapters. Our goals include having 10 active chapters in each cluster region, as well as sending at least 50 members from each region to the Fall Summit in November. The Student Advisory Board members on the committee, Jolanta Smulski, Zachary Cloud, and Marvi Lalvani, are working diligently with CSAmerica Council member and committee chair Edith Hannigan to create new chapters and make CSAmerica a prominent national organization.
