Announces the "Chapter of the Year" Award
Washington, D.C. ― The Collegiate Society of America is pleased to announce the inaugural 'Chapter of the Year' award. The new honor was established to acknowledge excellence in campus level activities. Nominations will be accepted from February 11, 2010 until April 1, 2010.
To nominate a chapter, send an E-mail to nominate@csamerica.org with a brief message. Final selections will be made by the Board of Directors and announced in April. Please contact Executive Director Benjamin van der Horst with questions at bvanderhorst@csamerica.org.

Announces the CSAmerica Fall Summit 2008
Washington, D.C. ― The Collegiate Society of America is pleased to announce the second annual CSAmerica Fall Summit will be held in Nashville, Tennessee on November 14-16, 2008. The second annual Fall Summit will build off the successful inaugural Fall Summit in Chicago last November.
The CSAmerica Fall Summit 2008 will feature speakers, debates, political simulations and more. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Select Nashville Opryland Hotel. More details, including the theme and full convention information will be released in early September.
The CSAmerica Fall Summit has become an integral part of the CSAmerica program since the first Fall Summit was held last fall and will compliment the National Convention as another opportunity for student leaders to come together for an educational weekend of debate, discussion, and networking.

CSAmerica National Convention 2008
Washington, D.C. ― The Collegiate Society of America (CSAmerica) held its second annual CSAmerica National Convention in Washington February 29- March 2 at the Holiday Inn Rosslyn. Students from twelve different schools attended the three-day non-partisan political debate conference.
Students attending the National Convention had the opportunity to participate in seven debates ranging from media coverage of the election to whether juveniles should be punished as adults. The debates were conducted in the participation-friendly CSAmerica debate format, which encourages attendees to participate in the debate. There were also several informal discussions, or dialogue sessions. Additionally, the Convention featured a mock trial, quiz bowl, and a crisis simulation.
Represented at the Fall Summit were: American University, Emory University, George Mason University, George Washington University, Hillsdale College, Kent State University, Indiana University, Lake Forest College, McDaniels, University of Maryland Baltimore County, Princeton University, Worchester Polytechnic Institute.

CSAmerica Fall Summit 2007
Chicago, Ill. ― The Collegiate Society of America (CSAmerica) held its inaugural CSAmerica Fall Summit in Chicago November 2-4 at the Holiday Inn Select O’Hare. 72 students from 17 different schools attended the three-day non-partisan political debate conference, an increase of over 30 percent from February’s CSAmerica National Convention.
Students attending the Fall Summit had the opportunity to participate in seven debates ranging from what to do with Iran to the death penalty. The debates were conducted in the participation-friendly CSAmerica debate format, which encourages attendees to participate in the debate. There were also several informal discussions, or dialogue sessions, including one on the upcoming primary elections. Additionally, the Summit featured a mock trial, quiz bowl, and a crisis simulation.
Represented at the Fall Summit were: American University, College of Staten Island, Emory University, George Mason University, George Washington University, Hillsdale College, Indiana University, Lake Forest College, Loyola University Chicago, Northwestern University, Ohio University, Rutgers University New Brunswick, Rutgers University Newark, University of Chicago, Worchester Polytechnic Institute, and Xavier University.

CSAmerica Council Meets in Chicago
Chicago, IL― The CSAmerica Council, a group of top CSAmerica leaders, met in Chicago, Illinois on May 23-24 at the Holiday Inn Select O’Hare. The Council came together to work on strategic planning for the 2007-2008 school year, including the first ever Fall Summit, details of which will be announced soon. The Council set ambitious goals and laid the groundwork for a successful upcoming school year.
Attending the meeting were CSAmerica Council members Edith Hannigan of Rutgers University, Courtney Lenz of Lake Forest College, and Emmanuel Caudillo of George Washington University. Also present were Executive Director Benjamin van der Horst of Emory University and Program Director Zack Conyne-Rapin of Indiana University.

CSAmerica National Convention 2007
Washington, D.C.― On Friday, February 9, student leaders from twenty colleges and universities gathered for the inaugural CSAmerica National Convention.
Delegates debated and discussed issues ranging from Iraq and Darfur, to immigration and affirmative action. The results of the convention docket are available on the internet at http://events.csamerica.org/docket.htm.
Author and journalist David Mark addressed convention delegates on Saturday morning, speaking about the negative campaigning and Washington politics. Mr. Mark is a Senior Editor of the new Washington, D.C. newspaper The Politico and is coordinating Politico’s coverage of the 2008 presidential race.
The Collegiate Society announced the establishment of the CSAmerica Council, a new student-run governing board that will take charge of the CSAmerica program. The Council members are Edith Hannigan of Rutgers University, Courtney Lenz of the University of Wisconsin Madison, and Emmanuel Caudillo of The George Washington University.

CSAmerica National Convention 2007
Washington, D.C.― The Collegiate Society of America (CSAmerica) is pleased to announce the inaugural CSAmerica National Convention. The CSAmerica National Convention will be held February 9, 10, and 11, 2007 at the Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge in Rosslyn, Virginia.
College students from colleges and universities from across the United States will be in attendance for the three day event. Convention delegates will participate in debates, moderated discussions, and other sessions focusing on politics, government, domestic policy, and foreign policy.
Author and journalist David Mark will deliver the convention keynote address on Saturday, February 10 at 10:30 a.m. Mr. Mark is a seasoned political journalist and is the Political Editor of The Politico, a new Washington, D.C. newspaper focusing on politics and government. Mr. Mark is the author of Going Dirty: The Art of Negative Campaigning published by Rowman & Littlefield in March 2006. Mr. Mark has appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, C-SPAN, CNN, and others as a political commentator.
